Free release of “Little Brats!”

2025-10-08

One year after its release, Little Brats! has officially been released under free license and is now available on Flathub!

A temporary exception

Like Superfluous Returnz, Little Brats! was initially released under a non-free license: those who follow me know that this is an exception, as all my works are generally published under a free license (usually Creative Commons By Sa).

Since developing a video game takes a lot of time, I decided to publish them first in a “closed” version to encourage people to buy them. But this closure is only temporary, since I remain committed to free art!

Engine and assets

The engine has always been under a free license, as it is Godot, an excellent game engine licensed under MIT.

The assets (scripts, images, sounds, music, etc.) are now published under a CC-BY-SA license: you therefore have the right to share the game, reuse these assets, and even modify them! Provided, of course, that you cite the source and place any derivative works under the same license.

For GNU/Linux users: Flathub

There are too many GNU/Linux distributions for me to maintain packages in each of them... however, the Flatpak system allows me to offer an application with clean installation that is integrated into most distributions, so I submitted the game to the Flathub store (https://flathub.org/fr/apps/net.ptilouk.littlebrats) (submission accepted).

You can now easily install the game on GNU/Linux via Flatpak!

Free as in free speech, not free beer

In practice, you can obviously download the game for free. But as always, I must draw your attention to the fact that developing a game takes a significant amount of time and therefore costs money.

At present, sales of Little Brats! cover a very small fraction of the time spent developing it. If you support free creation and you like Little Brats!, please consider supporting me with a donation!

Thank you very much and enjoy the game!
